A Trip To Udaipur.................
So it all starts out fifteen day back when I decided to go
for a training session for GPI at Ahmedabad and earn some extra bucks, who knew
I would end up accepting an offer from GPI for there Udaipur training session.
My Figo met within an accident on 15th August
2011 an was with FORD workshop till 23rd August 2011 for repairs,
the training sessions were supposed to commence on 25th August 2011
at Udaipur till 23rd was clueless about how I would go to Udaipur.
On 23rd my colleague Akash called me up & said we would drive to
Udaipur on 24th August 2011, I was more than happy as after accident
I was planning for a long trip as this trip may highlight the loose nut &
bolts or any other noise which the service people may not have noticed after
accident repair.
Though I had been to Udaipur earlier, it had been a pretty
hectic, mostly with other friends- families & temple centric. So have
decided this trip to be a sedate, slow and easy trip, no plans on what to do
once we reach there & take it as it flows.
The 250 + KM run from Ahmedabad to Udaipur on a good day takes
3- 3 ½ hrs, a sedate run about 4 hours. The 4 track toll roads winding through
the Aravali Mountains are one of the best in the country; only rains could play
spoil sport. We started off @ 10 am on 24th August 2011.
24th
August 2011
The road till Chiloda
circle ( Gandhinagar ) is slow, road already pot-holed, but drivable. Right
turn towards Himmatnagar displays pristine roads inviting you to flex the right
feet. The Figo, as usual is all eager to lap & is singing the re-assuring
whistle song, swallowing small blips/rumble strips or transitionary
rumbles. We started playing some old
classic English number from our pen-drive; past the tollgate in no time @
Himmatnagar after 90 kms @ around 11: 30 am
No worries..., though overcast, no
rains; we're past Shamalaji temple overbridge, pas the Gujarat border and into
the ghat section, cruising nice and easy. The recent rains have sprinkled the
whole area green; the countryside, the hills, the road embankments and what
have you..... everywhere a holi of soothening greenary. By jove.. have never
seen Rajastan so green earlier, for that matter, never have driven thro.
Rajastan in the rains. We hit Udaipur BP around 2 pm, circle around town searching
for Hotel Vishnu-priya twice and finally locate it around 2:30 pm.
We settle in, unpack the gizmos and suddenly
we come-up with a plan to go for a walk n explore the place, we came to know
from the Hotel staff that Lake Pichola was nearby ( according to them it was a
2 km walk but trust me it wasn’t, Udaipur people should take a class on How to
measure distance?)
After a hell lot of walking & asking
people we reached this lake to get a shock
of our life, as the lake was a small patch of water with some fancy
grilling on it reminded me of Vastrapur Lake in Ahmedabad. Totally shattered we
again started our long walk to hotel, back at hotel when my friend Akash was
surfing on his Lappy he came across a pic of Udaipur Map were in we saw that
Lake pichola had two Parts one which we saw & other which had 2 islands on
it, we immediately decided to go back n check, of course we used Car this time J . When we
reached the place shown in the map the site was awesome we could actually see
the famous Lake Palace Hotel half submerged in water.
Now tired we drove back to hotel on my
way back bought some beer as we were going to our room we saw a swimming pool
inside the hotel premises in an minute we came up with a plan to dive inside
the swimming pool so that I can have my beer pool side & akash his Pakodi’s
. The best part of the whole experience was none of us knew how to swim J.
After our swimming session we were
tired ,went back to room ordered our dinner n slept
More to come J.................
